Burrowing Owls
are common permanent residents in the agricultural areas of the
Imperial Valley and Yuma. You can find them perched on dirt
canal banks at all times of day, and find them hunting under the
lights of Yuma shopping malls at night. They are most
obvious in late spring and early summer, when they are rearing
young--at that time they are abundant along the dirt canals
southeast of the Salton Sea.
