Ferruginous Hawk, Yuma, AZ

Ferruginous Hawks are fairly common winter visitors to the Imperial Valley in CA, the lower Colorado River Valley, and the Gila River Valley around Tacna.  They frequent agricultural areas, where they can find an abundant supply of rodents.  Several reliable spots to check for these long-winged raptors are: agricultural areas south of Yuma, east of Tacna, and southwest of the Salton Sea.
