Least Sandpipers are the most
commonly encountered type of "peep" in this area. If you
see a small sandpiper along the Colorado River or at a shallow pond
in the Yuma area, it will be this species 9 out of 10 times.
They are abundant at the Salton Sea during migration and in
winter. They're the only small yellow-legged peep
in the area. Sure bets are Obsidian Butte and Red Hill Marina
at the Salton Sea in winter.
