Northern Flickers are common
winter visitors to the Colorado River and the Imperial Valley.
They breed in the mountains and foothills of southern
California. Look for them in city parks in Yuma and in El
Centro in the winter. The much rarer Gilded Flicker breeds in
the desert and is occasionally seen in Yuma--it is much more common
in SE AZ.
