Reddish Egrets are only regular in one place in this region--the Salt Flats at the south end of Mission Bay, south of  San Diego.  However, in 2002 they were seen multiple times at the Salton Sea and along the Colorado River, so keep an eye out.  Beware the similar-looking but smaller Little Blue Heron.
