Red-necked Phalaropes are often seen migrating north later in the spring (Apr) than Wilson's, and then return south later in the fall (Aug-Sep) than the Wilson's.  Occasionally they will outnumber the Wilson's, but not very often.  Look for both species in shallow water  surrounding the Salton Sea, such as Obsidian Butte and Red Hill Marina.
