Russet-tipped
Clubtail
Stylurus
plagiatus
|
The above
pics of a female, taken July 22 2003 in Imperial County, were posed.
Compare the markings on the abdomen with those of the the
Brimstone Clubtail and White-belted Ringtail pics! |
The only
place I have seen Russet-tipped Clubtail was near the East highline
Canal and K Lateral.
Sinclair Road is north of the city of Calipatria. Go east on
Sinclair till the road ends and then
continue east on the canal (K Lateral) till everything ends! East
Highline Canal is the eastern boundary
of all agriculture in Imperial Valley and runs all the way from
the Mexican border to Niland CA. Because
it has desert on one side and agriculture on the other means that
it can be great oding and birding!
Numerous White-belted Ringtail and a few Brimstone Clubtail, which
are very similar, were flying at the same time.
