San Diego Bird Festival
Feb 09-14, 2005
Guide- Bob Miller

I had the honor and great pleasure of leading several trips and participating in others with the San Diego Bird Festival this year!  Here is the second page with a small handful of the hundreds of pics taken that week.

Day 3 (continued) - Friday

Royal Tern

Dolphins were active in the cove and Pelagic Cormorants were feeding in the heavy surf at the rocks.

The others left after about an hour and the rain picked up and slowed but I very much enjoyed the rest of the morning sitting on that bench in the rain.

Day 5 - Sunday, Coronado Islands Pelagic trip

Glaucous Gull

The Saturday trip was great although I took very few pics that day.  Some of the best birds of the day were Brown Boobies and this imm. Glaucous Gull

Day 6 - Monday, Coronado Islands Pelagic trip

San Diego Bay

Sunrise was truly spectacular as we headed out on the second pelagic trip.

We found the Glaucous Gull on the islands along with several Glaucous-winged and Western Gulls this time.  Brown Boobies were seen again as well as numerous Black Oystercatcher and Black x American hybrids.

Sea Lion

Several Gray Whales were seen and some put on a bit of a show. Dolphins riding the bow are always a treat.  Sea Lions were numerous and we got to see several elephant seals including a huge male.
