California Towhee

Family: Sparrows (Emberizidae)
Genus & Species : Piplio crissalis
Status: Common in southern California. Not present in Arizona.
Habitat: Mountain, foothill, and coastal areas throughout southern California
Best Chances: This bird is very easy to find in some of the parks and overlooks next to the Pacific. For example, can usually be found walking around the parking lot at Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma in San Diego.
